PERFORMANCE ART PROGRAM


 


There is an exciting and many-sided program which we can offer you in our school and that is Performance Art Program. We want to give people an opportunity to get outlet from their creativity - ability to do, develop an imagination and get a will to influence. At the same time - to give capacity to be able to portray and shape visions, dreams and message via words, pictures and art. Through this program we also want to give a life to a Christian message through using different new channels.


We have noticed that many people nowadays want to shape the world which is around them in a creative way and they are searching for artistic and aesthetic education. The program we have been offering till now has been really appreciated and has given not only a bigger knowledge about arts, but also - a possibility for people to get to know themselves better.

CONTENT

1. Painting
A possibility for you to learn painting with colors and forms. A possibility to portray creation and nature with a help of brush. Christian motif - icon painting. Study visits to different artists and galleries. Also exhibition visiting.

2. Graphic art

3. Creative writing
You will learn how to write lively and draw the attention of others, no matter if it's a poem, novella or a real story. You will learn about famous authors and also write articles in our school's magazine "Hangö News".

Course "Creative writing" was concluded with a theme day about Astrid Lindgren. Do you recognize the figures?

4. Drama and improvisation
Here we learn about theatre, acting, facial expressions and bodily language, as well we practice together.

5. Rhetoric
You will get to know how to use your voice right and make your outstanding lively. You will get to know how to speak clear and legible.

6. Pantomime
Pantomime art is fascinating and has many old traditions. It is like music - universal and can be understood over language barriers. That is a language of silence. It gives expression to feelings, ideas and situations. It makes the invisible visible! Pantomime directs to all those who want to discover their own creation ability, who want to get to know their own body and learn to communicate with it.

Students studied pantomime intensively with Christian Alboy,
a pantomime artist and teacher from France.

 

7. Music and songs
Here you can learn playing piano or guitar. As well - sing alone or in a group.
During a school year students perform with their program in different happenings.

8. Film and video
You will learn how to use video equipment and how to make your own movies. As well you will get to know how to edit in a studio via analogous and digital technique.

9. Photo
Through practical exercises you will learn about camera techniques and photographing.

10. Creative work with hand
Weaving - work with fabrics
Wool work
Decoupage
Making Altar tapestry
Working with clay - making sculptures etc

- starting from ceramics and
ending with watercolor painting.

11. Fundamental journalism
Journalism elements. Interview techniques. Article writing (press items, news articles, reports, person portraits, causeries, chronicles, reviews, "subjective writing" etc.). Text editing (text analyses, headline creating, introduction writing, the importance of the picture, pictures texts, traditional Nordic editing contrary to more modern European style). Newspaper layout. Practical exercises.
Web - Newspaper production
You will learn how to produce for new times communication technique. You will learn web-editing (how to adjust texts for web-reading) Web-layout (how to find the best combination - text, pictures, graphics, colors etc.) Web-strategy (how to find target, how to communicate with target groups)
Media knowledge
Historical overview of media. Ethics and law. Current media questions. Theory of communication. Church and medium, media strategy..
Study visits
We visit newspapers, TV and radiostations.

12. Radio journalism
Recording and producing radio programs via analog and digital technique, sound and basic editing, microphone technique, work in a sound studio.

Students are making radio programs in school's own radio studio.

13. Activities that promote fellowship, co-operation and trust
You will experience practical exercises and challenges under the leadership of a qualified teacher.

CHOICE SUBJECTS: Computers, languages (English, German, Swedish, Finnish, Baltic languages) etc.
